Happy Employees make for Happy Customers – and Great Translation Services

Last week, the team here at Teneo won the 2017 Tinypulse Employee Recognition Award in the category of Professional Consulting Services. 

First, let me explain what this is all about. Tinypulse makes a software tool that sends a pulse survey to each of our employees once a week. It asks them questions like “How happy are you at work?” or “How likely are you to be working here five years from now?”. The answers are anonymous and everyone has the opportunity to offer a solution to anything they potentially see as a problem. This is huge because not only I have a feel for the happiness levels at work but I am not in the dark trying to come up with solutions to problems I might not even know existed.

An important part of this process is also sending “Cheers” to coworkers. A Cheer is a message we can send to each other to tell a coworker “job well done” or to simply say “thank you”. Recognizing someone’s efforts, singing their praises and expressing gratitude to them is the glue that keeps the team together. And racking up the highest number of Cheers per capita is exactly why our team won this Award.

So how exactly do happy employees make for happy customers and great service? That is, actually, pretty simple. It may seem the world we live in is the world of playing with words as long as it takes until we find the perfect translation solution for a document. Or the world of happily venturing out to meet our clients and their foreign partners for a leisurely afternoon interpreting session over a cup of tea. Instead, the world sometimes comes tumbling down on our heads in a crumpled mess of impossible deadlines, ever-changing requirements, and stress.
