CEO of Teneo Linguistics Company, Hana Laurenzo, dove deep into the world of language services with hosts Tracy Swain and JaVonne Williams on their podcast, Two Chics in the City.

They discussed a range of topics, including the importance of quality translation, Hana’s entrepreneurial journey in building Teneo Linguistics Company into a thriving language services provider, and the role of professional translation in the world today.

When discussing the importance of quality translation, Hana says there is an enormous opportunity for organizations to make genuine connections with their audiences who speak different languages, saying:

If organizations offer products/services around the world, and the product information is in their target audience’s native language, it creates a more profound psychological connection—making them more likely to be interested in that product/service.

They also discuss the role of free translation engines (like Google Translate) versus the role of professional translation services. Hana emphasizes human translation is the far superior choice for organizations seeking language services, saying:

“Translation is a creative activity. It needs a creative, educated, human mind.”

Hana describes how clients often come to TLC with poorly translated content—usually from a free translation engine or a bilingual individual—saying they don’t understand why the translated message isn’t resonating with their audience. When TLC translates the content, they see the phenomenal difference in quality.
